FROZEN WITH FEAR
- Side scrolling puzzle platformer
- A journey of 4 phobics who see the world in different ways
- Change the perspective of these phobics to affect the environment around them and solve puzzles
Frozen with Fear is a side scrolling puzzle platformer in which you have to guide a team of phobics to the end of each level. The level contains the triggers of the phobic’s fears, and when each of the 4 characters is selected, the environment is modified in line with their perception of the room.
DESIGN GOALS
Phobia as Tools/Empowerment: Have phobias not as a hinderance but as tools which can be harnessed to successfully progress.
Interactivity: Have a multi layered level design which favours puzzles that require interactivity in several areas to complete.
Safe Puzzles: Puzzles which are safe, logical and “Tim Burton” than “Clive Barker”.
CHARACTER DESIGN
- Franz – Insects
- Beetles become big enough to transport items via carapace
- Fireflies become huge, illuminating large parts of the environment

- “The Floorboards” example used to bridge gaps.
- Trapping objects in narrow passageways
- Gail – Weather
- Lightning can be used to power generators and rods
- Rain can be used to fill pipes and provide transportation
